Woodlands Farm is nestled in the small village of Helme, in the Kirklees District of West Yorkshire. Located near the small town of Meltham on the northern edge of the Peak District National Park, it is less than a 15 minute drive from the cosmopolitan Holmfirth, famed as the setting for the iconic television series ‘Last of the summer wine’.
The house has a picture postcard position, allowing guests to enjoy an amazing vista of the best that Yorkshire has to offer.
The house itself is accessed via a long driveway, with ample parking on site for all of your party’s needs.
Woodlands Farm was built towards the end of the 19th century and offers contemporary living, whilst at the same time retaining the original character of the house.
The entrance porch allows you to discard your muddy boots after a long day on the fells, or an afternoon stroll around Blackmoorfoot reservoir, which is located at the rear of the house.
The porch leads into the dining room, complete with it’s 10 seater dining table. The room boasts it’s own wood burning stove as well, ensuring that you are able to maximise the dining experience no matter what the weather.
From the dining room you are able to access the state of the art kitchen complete with Corian worktops and marble flooring. It offers twin ovens, a separate steamer oven and an integrated microwave, along with a large gas powered hob. The kitchen is complimented by an extensive range of utensils, enabling any budding chefs to showcase their culinary skills.
When not cooking you can sit down at the breakfast bar and enjoy a cup of coffee from the integrated machine.
There is a washing machine here, as well as a dishwasher.........meaning that no on need worry about who gets left with the washing up.
The lounge is home to the Farm’s second wood burning stove, making for the cosiest of settings on those long winter evenings. Curl up in front of the fire on the comfortable settees, read one of the many books that we make available to guests or just chill out in front of your favourite television programme. Board and activity games are also on offer, meaning that all members of your family / party are catered for.
From the lounge you can access the conservatory with Rattan style furniture. This is the perfect location for your pre-dinner drinks, whilst marvelling at the grounds of the house and beyond.
The ground floor is also serviced by a washroom.
The first floor is host to all 5 bedrooms that the property boasts. The master bedroom is 21’ long with built in solid oak wardrobes. It is also adorned by a king size bed, where you can be assured of a great night’s sleep.
The enormous bespoke en-suite would not look out of place in a luxury spa. It offers a 6 person sauna, with built in tea lights on it’s ceiling. In between sessions you can cool off in the stand alone shower cubicle, recline on a lounger or alternatively take advantage of the large jacuzzi bath.
The second bedroom offers versatile accommodation depending on the requirements of your group. It has a super king size bed which is zip and link meaning it can be set up as a twin if required (7 days notice required). This bedroom is also serviced by an en-suite shower room and has a solid oak wardrobe. It is tastefully furnished / equipped throughout.
Bedroom 3 also has the zip and link option, and as with the master bedroom and bedroom 2 offers panoramic views from the windows at the front of the house.
Bedroom 4 is a double room, and bedroom 5 is a children's bedroom with bunk beds. Both of these rooms enjoy views of the rear garden.
The family bathroom is well equipped with travatine floors, a sunken corner bath and integrated shower........providing for the perfect sanctuary after an action packed day.
Although not a working farm anymore, Woodlands still has a number of sheep that live in the paddock area and Guests can purchase eggs laid by our own Buff Orpington chickens that roam around the grounds.
We have a small football area complete with a goal, and a summer house at the rear of the property for those keen on keeping in the shade during the warm summer days.
We have a BBQ on site as well, in addition to patio furniture so you can maximise your 'Woodlands Farm' experience all year round.
The grounds / gardens are fully enclosed for the benefit of the four legged members of your family, including an electric gate at the entrance to the house. We would however respectfully request that dogs are kept under close control around the sheep / chickens.
Free WI-Fi is also included.
Nb;- There is a small studio apartment attached to Woodlands Farm, which is used on occasion by family / friends. Their living / outside space does not encroach onto anything described above,
